MAPPING THE LANDSCAPE OF GREEN FINANCE: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF ITS EVOLUTION AND ENABLERS

With increasing international endeavours towards climate change and protecting environmental sustainability, green finance is deemed a financial instrument for green development. Green finance is a unique financial pattern that integrates financial gains and environmental protection to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through financial activities. This study chose the bibliometric analysis method to explore the current status, development trends, and future direction of this unique financial pattern, such as green finance. This study explored the published documents on green finance and their networking and erudite structure. The Scopus database was used to extract bibliometric data on green finance for almost a quarter of a century between 1997-2021. Based on the bibliometric analysis, this study found the current status, trends, more significant subject area, more productive scientific journals, most productive countries, institutions, and authors in the area of green finance, through scanning the published documents. Additionally, this study determined the academic network by mapping the co-citation and bibliographic coupling. This study contributes by providing evaluation of green finance advancements and paths that can help researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers to consider the future strings of research in the area of green finance.
